Amit

his Story

Amit hails from the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan, India, and comes from a reputable Hindu Brahmin family. He was infused with the basic yoga skillset from a young age and inspired by the training that was acquired from his maternal grandfather. After his academic years, yoga became an integral part of Amit’s life when he started to dedicate a significant amount of time to mastering the art and science of yoga. As part of the journey, he shifted his focus to Naturopathy for 3.5 years in 2002 and subsequently studied at Swami Vivekananda Yoga University (Bangalore) in 2005 to further expand his learning with meditation and yoga asanas. From this point onwards his vision and purpose in life became crystal clear – he would become a yoga instructor to make a difference in his life and help to do the same in other people’s lives. Amit’s passion continued as he learned Iyengar yoga in Rishikesh from Swami Rudra Dev Goda and Smt. Usha Ji. Whilst in Rishikesh in 2006, he met Senior Iyengar Teacher Shri. S. Nandakumar, who continues to be his mentor to this day and who introduced him to Shri. B.K.S Iyengar at RMYS, Pune.

Amit is keen to improve the life of his students in a holistic manner by focusing on the physical whilst bringing mental tranquillity through yoga teaching and asanas. His style of teaching is personal and unique—just as every individual’s physique and condition are unique. Amit is helpful and mild-mannered, yet skillful, determined, and dedicated to improving the yoga level of the students that he serves. He is also like a counselor, giving nuggets of advice to improve their overall state of well-being. Even as a teacher, Amit feels that his learning along the yoga journey continues…..
