By purchasing a class package, special class, course, workshop, or retreat with BKS Iyengar Yogashala, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

1. Payment

We accept payment via cash, credit cards, debit cards, and online bank remittance. Payment is due strictly at the time services are rendered or packages are purchased.

All payments must be directed and made payable to Rishi Management Associates Sdn Bhd, the registered business entity for BKS Iyengar Yogashala.

All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are subject to all applicable taxes, including Service Tax (SST), where legally required.

2. Class Packages — Validity and Expiry

Package validity automatically begins on the date of purchase. The designated validity periods are as follows:

Any unused classes are automatically forfeited upon expiry. Packages are strictly non-transferable to another person, except where explicitly permitted under a shared option (e.g., the 100-Class Package option detailed above).

3. Membership Status

You are considered an active Member of the studio only during the active validity period of a purchased class package of 10 classes or above. Once your class package expires or is fully utilized without renewal, your status transitions to Alumni. Single Drop-In attendance does not grant membership status or access to member benefits.

Package upgrades and downgrades are permitted only within 7 days from the initial date of billing, subject to the appropriate adjustments.

4. Package Extensions

Extensions on package validity are granted only under exceptional and unavoidable circumstances, such as serious medical conditions or bereavement. Extensions will not be approved for business travel, personal holidays, or general scheduling conflicts.

All extension requests must be submitted in writing with valid supporting documentation (e.g., a medical certificate) to admin@bksiyengaryogashala.com. All extensions are subject to final management approval.

5. Class, Workshop, Course, and Retreat Cancellations

Cancellations by the Studio:

BKS Iyengar Yogashala reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any class, workshop, course, or retreat at any time. We will make every reasonable effort to notify registered students through available channels, including WhatsApp, email, our website, and/or social media. We reserve the right to cancel any scheduled regular class due to low attendance or sudden operational requirements. If the studio cancels a special workshop, course, or retreat, a full refund will be issued to affected participants.

Teacher Substitution:

We reserve the right to substitute scheduled teachers without prior notice to ensure class continuity and operational flexibility.

Cancellations by the Student:

Cancellation timelines, administrative fees, and potential refund terms for student-initiated cancellations are strictly governed by our standalone Refund & Cancellation Policy.

6. Online Classes and Digital Content

BKS Iyengar Yogashala offers online classes and recorded digital content securely through our digital streaming platforms. By accessing these online resources, you agree to the following terms:

• Access permissions are granted strictly to the registered account holder only. Sharing access credentials, login details, or digital links with third parties is strictly prohibited.
• Screen recording, downloading, capturing, ripping, or unauthorized redistribution of any online class or recorded content is strictly illegal and will result in immediate termination of access.
• Access to recorded video-on-demand content is valid only for the exact duration specified at the time of purchase. Expired access terms cannot be restored or rolled over.
• Standard studio conduct rules (detailed in Section 9) apply equally to virtual settings and interactive online sessions.
• We are not responsible for technical disruption, lag, or loss of access caused by the user’s internet connection, personal device compatibility, or unannounced updates to third-party operating platforms.

7. Special Programs — Foundation Course, CPP, and Mentorship

The Foundation Course, Certification Preparation Program (CPP), and Mentorship Program are special educational offerings and are subject to separate, comprehensive program agreements provided at the time of enrolment. Those individual agreements specifically govern specialized payment schedules, mandatory attendance benchmarks, professional conduct codes, and program-specific refund structures, and shall take complete precedence over these general Terms & Conditions in the event of a conflict.

8. Health, Medical, and Fitness Responsibility

Yoga involves intensive physical exertion and posture adjustments. By participating in any class, workshop, or program, you explicitly confirm and agree that:

• You are physically fit to participate and have no underlying medical conditions, injuries, or illnesses that would make participation unsafe without independent medical clearance.
• You assume full, personal responsibility for your health, physical limits, and general condition during practice.
• You have completely disclosed any relevant health conditions, physical injuries, recent surgeries, or physical limitations to the instructor prior to the start of class.
• BKS Iyengar Yogashala, its management, instructors, and staff shall not be liable for any injury, medical relapse, illness, or adverse health effects arising from your participation, except where explicitly caused by our own proven gross negligence.
• If you are pregnant, have a recent injury, or live with a chronic health condition, you must consult a qualified medical professional before attending, and you must remind the instructor of your condition before the start of each class.

Minors (Under 18): A parent or legal guardian must complete, verify, and sign the registration form on behalf of any student under the age of 18. By doing so, the parent or guardian legally accepts these Terms & Conditions and assumes full financial and health responsibilities on the minor’s behalf.

9. Code of Conduct

To preserve a harmonious, safe, and focused environment for study, all students are required to:

• Arrive on time. Late arrivals disrupt the flow of practice and may be refused entry or asked to wait for the next session at the instructor’s sole discretion.
• Maintain respectful, compassionate, and considerate behavior toward teachers, administrative staff, and fellow students at all times.
• Completely switch off or silence mobile phones and electronic devices before entering the practice hall.
• Refrain from recording classes (via audio or video capture) without explicit, prior written permission from the leading instructor.
• Follow instructions regarding prop usage, alignment safety, corrections, and recommended practice modifications.

BKS Iyengar Yogashala reserves the absolute right to refuse entry, remove a student from a live class, or permanently terminate a membership package without a refund if a student’s conduct is determined to be disruptive, disrespectful, unsafe, or harmful to the environment or others.

10. Intellectual Property Rights

All teaching methodologies, unique class sequences, program content, course notes, training handbooks, recorded videos, and other educational materials created or delivered by BKS Iyengar Yogashala and its affiliated instructors are protected by copyright laws and remain the exclusive intellectual property of BKS Iyengar Yogashala and/or the individual creators.

Students are granted a personal license to use these materials for personal study only. You may not reproduce, distribute, duplicate, record, publish, stream, or commercially exploit any part of the teachings, content, or structural materials without prior written consent.

11. Active Member Benefits

Active members holding a valid, non-expired class package are eligible to receive specialized studio privileges, which may include:

• Discounts on selected premium yoga props
• Exclusive birthday rewards
• Student referral incentives
• Access to closed, member-only events and specialty activities

All benefits are subject to operational changes at the discretion of management and apply strictly while a student’s membership status remains active.

12. Force Majeure

BKS Iyengar Yogashala shall not be held liable or responsible for any failure or delay in delivering services due to events or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. These include, but are not limited to: natural disasters, acts of God, pandemics, sudden government-imposed restrictions, lockdowns, civil disruptions, utility failures, or mandatory public facility closures. In such instances, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule affected sessions or provide digital alternatives, and refunds will be issued only if mandated by applicable Malaysian laws.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted under Malaysian law, BKS Iyengar Yogashala’s total cumulative liability to any student for any claims, damages, or causes of action shall not exceed the exact total amount paid by that student for the specific class, package, or specialized educational program giving rise to the claim. We accept no liability for indirect, consequential, or incidental financial losses.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by, interpreted, and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes, claims, or legal actions arising directly out of these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

15. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify, adjust, or completely update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to align with business evolutions or legal shifts. Any amendments will be published directly on our website with an updated effective date. Continued utilization of our studio services, booking systems, or facility following an update constitutes your definitive acceptance of the revised Terms.
