Refund & Cancellation Policy
BKS Iyengar Yogashala strives to provide a fair, balanced, and transparent cancellation and refund process. The following specific policies apply based on the type of package or specialized program you are enrolled in.
1. Regular Class Packages
All regular class packages are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable to other individuals once purchased.
- No credits, makeup provisions, or validity extensions will be issued for missed classes under ordinary circumstances.
- Exceptions are made strictly for validated emergencies or sudden medical changes as outlined in Section 7 (Medical and Emergency Exceptions).
- Any unused classes remaining on a package are automatically forfeited immediately upon the package’s expiration date.
2. Special Classes
(Applies to single-session events scheduled outside the regular studio calendar, such as guest teacher classes, masterclasses, and unique seasonal sessions)

3. Workshops

If BKS Iyengar Yogashala cancels a workshop for any operational reason, a full 100% refund will be issued to all registrants immediately, regardless of timing.
4. Courses
(Applies to multi-session structured educational programs, progressive training series, and short courses)

Once a course has officially commenced, no pro-rated refunds or credits will be issued for any remaining unattended sessions.
5. Foundation Course
(Applies explicitly to our comprehensive 10-week structured flagship program)

If a student elects to withdraw from the Foundation Course after it has begun, no refunds or roll-overs are available for remaining classes, subject strictly to independent medical exceptions outlined in Section 7.
6. Retreats
(Applies to all local and international destination yoga retreats)

If BKS Iyengar Yogashala cancels a retreat due to operational or travel constraints, a full refund will be issued to all participants.
7. Medical and Emergency Exceptions
We genuinely appreciate that severe illnesses, physical injuries, sudden bereavement, or other serious life emergencies can happen. In these instances:
- A direct refund or studio account credit may be issued at management’s absolute discretion upon prompt presentation of legal supporting documentation (e.g., a formal medical certificate or doctor’s diagnostic letter).
- For workshops, retreats, or courses held at external venues (such as destination resorts, hotels, or rented halls), any non-refundable deposits or operational fees charged to the studio by that external vendor will be deducted from your final refund amount. BKS Iyengar Yogashala will refund its own internal portion in full.
- All emergency requests must be submitted explicitly to admin@bksiyengaryogashala.com with the exact subject line: Refund Request — Medical/Emergency.
8. Booking Transfers to Another Student
For workshops, courses, the Foundation Course, and retreats, a student may arrange to transfer their registration slot to another eligible individual under the following strict conditions:
- The transfer request must be officially submitted via email at least 4 days before the program’s official start date. No transfer requests will be considered after a program has commenced.
- The replacement student must complete full studio registration and liability documentation before the booking transfer can be officially cleared and confirmed.
- Please note: Booking transfers are strictly prohibited for regular class packages.
- Submit all transfer requests to admin@bksiyengaryogashala.com clearly listing the event details along with full contact names for both students.
9. CPP and Mentorship Programs
The Certification Preparation Program (CPP) and academic Mentorship Program are specialized tracks governed exclusively by separate individual program agreements signed at the time of official enrolment. Refund conditions, payment schedules, and cancellation paths for those programs are bound by those dedicated contracts and will take complete precedence over this general policy if any contradictions arise.
10. Refund Processing and Execution Method
- Approved monetary refunds will automatically be routed back to the original method of payment whenever technically feasible.
- If a direct return to the original payment source is unavailable due to bank processing restrictions, a non-expiring studio credit will be appended to your profile account for future use.
- All authorized refund payments are processed and completed within 14 to 30 business days following the formal date of approval.
- All cancellation notices and refund claims must be submitted exclusively in writing to admin@bksiyengaryogashala.com.
11. Program-Specific Clauses
Certain special masterclasses, workshops, or retreats may explicitly specify unique cancellation timelines or distinct non-refundable deposit terms inside their standalone registration forms or promotional brochures. In these specific circumstances, those specialized program terms completely supersede this general framework.
12. Force Majeure
In the event that a program must be delayed or canceled due to circumstances completely beyond our reasonable control (e.g., natural disasters, acts of God, public health emergencies, pandemics, sudden government restrictions, lockdowns, or building closure), BKS Iyengar Yogashala will prioritize rescheduling the event. If rescheduling is not possible, a credit or refund will be issued in accordance with what is practically possible given any external costs already incurred.
